Every year on March 21, UNESCO supports World Poetry Day, a celebration of linguistic diversity through poetic expression. For many people, poetry is a fantastic way to talk about the challenges of hearing loss.
Connect Hearing strives to open the doors of communication. This is why we love poetry and offer free hearing tests at clinics across Canada.
To read a very thoughtful poem about the experience of hearing loss, visit: http://www.hearinglink.org/poetry/anon?
Another wonderful page is at Hearinghealthmatters.org.
We encourage everyone to learn more about hearing and also take the time to find their own ear for great poetry. If you’re feeling really adventurous, try writing your own poem. We did! (Drum roll, please...)
Connect and Be Heard
Life is a gift to be heard,
If sounds are missing,
Don't be distressing,
Get your ears tested
One visit to our friendly clinic
And you will be off singing,
Enjoying the sounds you cherish,
Knowing you'll always Stay Connected.
