This past September, we shot a new video spot with hockey legends and official Connect Hearing spokespersons Darryl Sittler and Lanny McDonald. Working with our advertising agency H2 and Meta Productions, the entire shoot took place in Calgary at one of our clinics near the downtown core and a charming breakfast spot (The Belmont) in the city’s southwest quadrant.
With Darryl and Lanny’s hectic schedules, we had to make the most of our limited time with them. Shooting took place September 2nd and 3rd, and even though our last day stretched into the evening, there was still an excited buzz in the air as we wrapped. What was great about this particular shoot was that even though we had limited time with Darryl and Lanny and were working with a tight schedule, they made the entire crew feel at ease with some great stories, funny quips and even a few moments of mentorship. The young actress who plays an enthusiastic hockey fan in the spot received some encouraging words from Darryl about her future as a hockey player (she currently plays for her local team and brought her own hockey jersey for her onset wardrobe). “Getting the young kids excited about hockey never gets old for me,” says Darryl, “and when you can get some of that energy on the set, I think it makes acting more fun and natural for everyone.”
The spots which will air on CTV, Corus, Rogers and CBC, highlight the noticeable difference in performance that the latest hearing aid technology offers in everyday situations. With Darryl Sittler and Lanny McDonald being Canadian icons who’ve prioritized the importance of preventative health care throughout their lives, we believe their ability to connect with a demographic that can relate to the hockey stars was a perfect fit for Connect Hearing. “I continue to take the best care possible of myself, and that includes my hearing,” says Lanny. “After all, you only get one body. And I want mine to be working as good as it can for as long as possible.”
